Because controlling Legionella with the Orca system no longer requires high, scalding hot water temperatures, mixing valves to prevent scalding are no longer necessary.
Mixing valves are expensive to install and require regular maintenance, cleaning which is often not done.
Likewise, mixing valves mix hot so called ‘treated water’ with cold untreated water that may contain Legionella bacteria. This mixture of hot and cold water creates the ideal temperature for the bacteria to breed.
