The UK HTM04-01 guidance for NHS trusts also supports copper and silver ionization as an effective method to control Legionella in water systems.

The Orca system conforms to the maximum allowed values for copper and silver in drinking water as prescribed in the UK Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 1989, and the UK Water Supply (Water Quality) regulations 2000.

The UK Drinking Water Inspectorate approves of copper and silver ionization and the Orca system has been fully tested and approved under the UK Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS).

ProEconomy is also a member of the European Union (EU) Task Force which was created in order to meet the requirements of the EU Biocidal Product Directive. Being biocidal, copper and silver fall under the scope of this directive and evidence showing that they do not pose significant risk to humans, animals or the environment was presented to the EU council. The EU appointed member state Sweden is currently evaluating this evidence, so that acceptable levels for copper and silver can be determined. These levels will then be published in the Directive. Once published all copper and silver that is used as a biocide will require access to ProEconomy ’s evidence. If this access is not granted then the biocide will be removed from the EU market.

All electrical components of the Orca system have been tested and qualified for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
